By Farmers, For Farmers The Weideman Story

With a farming history stretching over 150 years, Weideman Livestock Pellets knows the quality needed by those who use our products, as it's rooted in our history and products we use on our own farms on a daily basis.

THE WEIDEMAN STORY

Jer 32: 39-41 39I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them. 40I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. 41I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.

Weideman Feeds is a family business with its origins in Vlakfontein, near Philippolis. Charl Weideman (Snr) is the 5th generation on the farm and the Executive Director of Weideman Feeds. The two directors are brothers, Jaco and Charl (jnr). They became part of the business in 2008 and 2011, respectively.

The business started in the late nineties during a severe drought that forced us to produce our own feed. The feed pellets were initially a supplement during drought times. As the condition of our sheep improved, neighbors inquired about acquiring our pellets.

In 2008, we purchased an irrigation farm in Jacobsdal to ensure an adequate supply of lucerne for producing our pellets. The first pellets were registered with the Department of Agriculture in 2009. Over time, the pellets evolved into a top-quality product. We continue to develop our horse pellets, sheep feed, and cattle feed on our farm in Philippolis.

Since 2010, the factory has been expanded five times to meet the demand. In 2017, we introduced a new pellet machine, leading to a triple increase in production. Today, Weideman Feeds produces 18,000 tons of feed per year, equivalent to 1,500 bags in 24 hours or 75 tons per day.

We have agents in various provinces, including the Free State, Northern Cape, and Gauteng.
